Don't CALL that 800 number!

I continue to get a LOT of calls about this.  NO, DO NOT call any phone numbers that just pop-up on your screen, regardless of how legitimate they look or sound.  Companies, including Microsoft or Apple would never contact you in this manner.  The only call you should make, is to me so I can guide you on what steps you need to take to solve this problem.

Again,  DO NOT CALL ANY 800 NUMBERS that pop up on your computer screen or let anyone take control of your machine

Call me and I will advise you on what you should do.

Safe computing. Mark :-)

Beware - the push for windows 10

If your system is currently running Windows 7 or Windows 8 you have no doubt seen a pop-up saying that your "Windows 10 upgrade is ready."   Most systems can upgrade to Windows 10 just fine - but there is a risk of the update not working, data loss and even system failure during or after the upgrade.   Windows 10 is a free upgrade for users on Windows 7 and Windows 8 until early July 2016.  After this date Microsoft said they will begin to charge to update - they have not disclosed how much the upgrade will cost after this free upgrade period expires.

Microsoft is going to continue it's aggressive marketing to get you to "press the upgrade button."  Before you do so. please call me to discuss the best options to upgrade you in a safe manner.

Thanks, Mark :-)

Should I Turn my computer off?

You do not need to turn your computer off when you are not using it.*  It is actually better to leave your computer on when you are not using it so that your software such as windows, antivirus and other programs running on your machine can continue to update and keep you protected.

*One exception would be extended periods - days, weeks, and longer periods where you do not plan to use it.  When it is powered back on and connected to the internet, it will pickup where it left off .
